Scott Walker is Not Hosni Mubarak
Memo to Pravda:
1. Scott Walker is a Governor duly elected by the people of Wisconsin in a free and fair election less than four months ago in which he made clear what his governing philosophy is and would be, and he is applying that philosophy in dealing with a state budgetary crisis deeply exacerbated by levels of compensation and other benefits payable to members of public employee unions.
2. Orchestrated union protests with busloads of out-of-state paid demonstrators in Wisconsin are not populist uprisings against an unelected dictator akin to those occurring in the Middle East.
3. End of Scott Walker = Mubarak theme story
The level of
abject idiocy now prevailing among Pravda celebrities
such as Christiane Amanpour, Brian Williams and Diane Sawyer—each of whom has assigned some element of legitimacy to the idea that Wisconsin’s protests are like those in Egypt—is truly breathtaking.
If they know better and are reporting misinformation and disinformation, their actions are inexcusable and they should be fired immediately.
If they don’t know better; if they are reporting what they actually believe to be a valid parallel—i.e., they represent a generation of news people who have lost all capacity to grasp the differences in these situations, which in the simplest terms possible, is another way of saying they have lost all connection with truth. If that is the case, they are finished without having to be fired, and Americans will just have to cringe as they watch them flop around like fish out of water until their official demise.
Americans can’t take any more lies;
they won’t take any more.
