A Telltale Poll

The Obama administration and the Democrats are in far deeper trouble than they or their media sycophants are able to grasp. There’s a telltale poll out that flags the trouble dramatically, though maybe not so obviously to many observers. We’ll explain below, but first, a recap of why we’ve always been entertained by but highly suspicious of just about all polls.

• There are nearly infinite ways—subtle and not so subtle—to rig results to conform to what the pollster (or whoever is paying the pollster) wants them to be. You tell us the answers you want, we’ll craft the questions to get them.

• The bias of polls by political organizations (when they make the ‘findings’ public) is self-evident.

• Media organizations which might otherwise be thought to be objective have an overwhelming interest to see their sponsored poll results conform to the positions they have taken and the spins they have adopted on the topics being polled. Otherwise, the media would be proving their own irrelevance, and particularly losing their ability to cause DC politicians to cower before them for fear of negative publicity.

• Even if there were such a thing as an unbiased polling operation, the results are still highly questionable because of the social aspects of how many of those being polled believe they should respond so as to be in whatever they consider to be the politically correct mainstream of thought. This is the number one factor which causes us to discount Presidential ‘job approval’ polls, especially as to Obama.

Which brings us to today’s telltale poll. Bloomberg News reports a Bloomberg National Poll in which 73% of those polled oppose a ban on offshore drilling.

It’s an interesting result as it relates to the specifics of offshore drilling and public reaction to the BP oil leak disaster. But the far, far more significant implication of this poll is in how it puts the lie to any poll suggesting that Obama still has a ~45% job approval rating.

There aren’t many sentient Americans who don’t know about the oil spill; it’s been at or near ‘front and center’ of media and web coverage for two months. Obama’s ‘boots on the neck’ attitudes and twice-Court-nullified moratorium on offshore drilling are also well-known.

If 73% of the American people oppose Obama’s ban on offshore drilling, there is no way in hell Obama’s real job approval rating is in even in the 40’s, much less 45%. His real approval rating is probably in the 20’s and headed lower. Don’t bother with the argument “…just because three-quarters of the people oppose what Obama is doing on one of the biggest issues of the day, that doesn’t mean they don’t have a much higher regard for the overall job he’s doing…”. That’s what’s known as the denial of the deluded.

That’s why we believe what’s coming down the pike in November is going to be historic. We don’t think there is an October surprise clever enough or even diabolical enough to stop it.

The simple truth is that the Obama administration is now openly giving the finger to the American people, every day, with every action. It is stunning to behold. It is going to crash and burn like nothing anyone has ever seen.
