Summer Revolution 2009 - One Year Later

We wrote last summer of a revolution brewing in America (scroll down for last year’s essay). A year later, it’s past brewing to boiling. Whether it completely boils over between now and November may depend on how clueless and tone deaf the American Political Class continues to be.

Since last summer, we’ve had (1) Obamacare shoved down the throats of the American people, (2) an American administration demonizing and apparently going to court against the people of Arizona who want the immigration laws enforced so they can stop feeling terrorized in their own country, (3) an out-of-control oil spill that has brought out the incompetence, thuggery, and juvenile attitudes of Obama for everyone to see, and (4) a dismissal of the latest Islamist’ provocation of Israel that would make Adolf Hitler proud.

To kick off summer 2010, we’re going to watch a community organizer engage in a public dressing down and possible dismissal of an American general who is a Special Ops guy who has lived combat for the protection and defense of America. And even some of the elitist Republicans will pile on General McChrystal, while pontificating on hallowed concepts of civilian control of the military, just as elitist Republicans piled on Joe Barton for calling the shakedown of BP a shakedown, while pontificating on the hallowed concept that all Americans agree that oil companies are evil.

The American people can’t take any more of this crap. It’s never been clearer—political posturing and positioning is one thing; truth is another. And truth is what matters. In Afghanistan, the American military is being asked to defeat a ruthless enemy under rules of engagement designed not to offend anyone, and is being asked to do so before an announced deadline for withdrawal. Even a nickel’s worth of common sense says no one can win a war this way. Yet winning this war against Islamists is critical to the future of America and of civilization itself. But what we’re going to be treated to is a mainstream media onslaught of elite opinion about the dangers of generals speaking out against a commander-in-chief in wartime.

Yes, there are dangers to having generals speak out against a commander-in-chief in wartime (though it is astounding how little the general is reported to have said as compared with his staff). The exponentially greater danger, however, lies in having a commander-in-chief in wartime who is massively over his head in terms of sheer competence, and even worse, does not really know whether the Taliban or Sarah Palin is a greater enemy of ‘his’ America. This is the truth of this situation, and the American people know it.

The media lightweights and Political Class will fall all over themselves stirring up their righteous indignation over a Special Ops general not being properly respectful of their revered President, and they will think they can generate a poll bounce for Obama right along with it. They are dreaming.

There are one too many straws that have been piled on the back of the American people. And there are millions of Americans who have wondered when someone in the American military would finally step up and scream to the rooftops of the danger we are in as a result of this radical left-wing fraud inhabiting the White House. Maybe if McChrystal is forced to resign, he will be the first visible American of stature to state for the record and for the world what the American people have been waiting to hear: Obama must go.

The American Political Class and media are joining hands to keep the lid on the boiling anger of the American people. That’s a good way to get burned.

Summer 2010 is going to be hotter than summer 2009.

The summer of American discontent is going to be powerful…

Historians will someday compare and contrast conditions in America in the years and months leading up to July 4, 1776 to America in the years and months leading up to July 4, 2009. We don’t claim to know the details of each link in the causal chain of 1776, but we can see a lot of them in 2009.

On the cusp of summer 2009, America has a President who is carrying out an agenda unrecognizable to anyone who voted in November 2008, including anyone who voted to elect him. America has a government of elected men and women who in February 2009 voted to approve the largest spending bill in American history, and not one of them had read it before voting. The spending bill was accompanied by Presidential promises (or threats, depending on how you look at it) that if it were not passed urgently, unemployment could reach 8% by year end. Less than five months later, unemployment stands at 9.2%.

The American government has taken control of two of America’s three major auto companies; holds controlling interest in one of America’s largest insurers, and owns major, de facto controlling stakes in large American banks. The American government is signaling its intent to specify/limit the pay of executives in all American businesses. Budgets have been approved that create levels of unprecedented and unpayable levels of debt, after the farce of White House conferences on ‘fiscal responsibility’ and followed later by the farce of lip service to pay-as-you-go legislating.

The American President has proclaimed that America is not a Christian nation, and he has said America’s 7 million Muslims (in reality, there are less than 1.5 million) make America one of the largest Muslim countries in the world. The American President is attempting to dictate to Israel policies that are in direct opposition to the policies of the democratically elected government of Israel, America’s spiritual ancestor and strongest and most natural ally in the Middle East.

Meanwhile, the American Pravda media contorts itself beyond recognition and beyond parody in the effort to support the American President and create approval polls to suggest the American people support what is happening. Pravda reporters work meticulously to understand and repeat the White House story that 1.2 million less people working (in five months) is less important than 150,000 ‘saved jobs’—never remotely comprehending how they are exposing not just their bias but their stupidity to the American people. Pravda devotes endless energy in the effort to demonize a talk radio host, and portray an opposition party in disarray in the face of the almighty and all-powerful juggernaut of the ‘popular’ President.

It is hard to imagine a more complete fraud. Potemkin Villages were more authentic.

On the cultural front, late night comedian David Letterman makes a joke about Yankee Alex Rodriguez ‘knocking up’ the 14 year old daughter of Sarah Palin (both of whom were in attendance at a recent Yankee game). The shock isn’t so much that Letterman would make such a joke (he’s long since ceased to be funny, and is simply a smug, cynical, smart-ass with nothing positive to offer)—the real pathos is that there is likely no one within the entire upper management of the CBS Television Network who has any idea why such a joke is offensive to a vast majority of Americans.

The overall picture could not be more out of synch with the truth, and this is why revolutions happen.

The truth is Americans did not support the stimulus bill when it was proposed and do not support it now. The American people did not support the bailouts at the time they were first proposed, and they do not support them now. Americans instinctively know that the government does not create jobs, because the only way a government employee ultimately can be paid is from the taxes collected from a private sector employee.

Americans also know that America is a Christian nation, and they know in their hearts that it is this very fact that is at the core of America’s greatness and exceptionalism. They understand the link to Israel runs very deep (see Brushfires essay "Israel Matters"); they know little about Islam and want to believe the best, but their gut tells them that American ideals and Islamic doctrines are not reconcilable (see Brushfires essay “A Proactive Approach to Islam in America”).

The truth also is that Rush Limbaugh’s audience has never been larger or more loyal, and its makeup is the absolute bedrock of productive America. He has mastered the technologies of the day in a way that makes demonizing him not only futile but actually counterproductive. See Brushfires essay, "The Real Limbaugh Legacy".

Here’s a final truth, and Pravda has no clue about it: it is the Democrat Party that is in disarray and is anything but a juggernaut. The radical left is not the rank-and-file of the Democrat Party; it may not represent even 10% of the party. The radical left is well-funded by George Soros and the money buys a lot of PR spin in Pravda, but it’s nothing but an illusion of strength. Barack Obama is failing and failing spectacularly—including in the eyes of the core Democrats who elected him.

Individual freedom and responsibility under God is hard-wired into the DNA of Americans, and it will not be un-wired. But here’s a little secret few understand: free people have a nose for the truth—and they can smell a lie and a fraud. Pravda doesn’t know it but a majority of Americans have already smelled the Obama fraud. The elitists want to deny it, and the Political Class is too fearful to know what to say about it, but the people know. And there’s only so much lying they are going to tolerate. The race-card is the last finger in the dike, but Americans know that the real proof of a post-racial society will come when Obama gets pounded by the criticism that every other politician would receive who is pursuing a radical, previously concealed agenda full of failed ideas that are violently opposed to American ideals. They live in a post-racial society and are ready to hear the criticism; they’re just looking for a few leaders with the guts to speak out. We think those leaders are going to emerge very soon. This summer is going to be hot, and it won’t be because of global warming. Revolution is in the air.
