"Social Issues" Won't Hunt
There has been some informed speculation that the Democrats and the Pravda media will be teaming up in the next six weeks to transform the tea party movement into a return of Christian fundamentalism. The charge of racism didn’t pan out, and a half million people at Glenn Beck’s rally singing Amazing Grace sort of sapped the 'hate-filled extremist' theme. Surely the old abortion card, mixed in with a little homophobia (and maybe a tangential throw-in on ‘endangering social security’) will stop the liberal hemorrhaging, and put the tea partiers back in the fringe where they belong.
No chance this will work.
Political ‘experts’ on both sides of the aisle just do not grasp what is going on in America. They have so much of their worldview invested in fitting today’s news and events into yesterday’s categories that they completely discount the notion that we are in the midst of creating a new category.
We think two of the biggest factors they fail to fully understand are (1) the extent to which the American people feel they were deliberately defrauded by Obama, and (2) the intensity of the common human reactions to being defrauded.
As to the first factor, the experts are stuck in the realm of over-intellectualizing what transpired in the election of 2008. They think what was portrayed by candidate Obama was within the bounds of normal political bobbing and weaving; that the radical Marxist/anti-colonialist/leftist dots were there to connect had the people wanted to connect them; and that the ‘blame Bush’ justification for Obama’s agenda had enough legitimacy to keep all of Obama’s proposals from being seen by the American people as outside the mainstream.
It’s not that complicated. Obama conned the American people; he flat out-lied and deceived the people about who he really is and what he really believes. That’s L I E D.
What’s more, he knows he conned the American people; has reveled in the perks of office to show how much he enjoys having conned the American people; and still thinks he can con the American people. To the good-hearted Americans convinced to vote for Obama by the “first black American President” argument, this subsequent behavior and attitude has just grated and grated and grated on their patience and good will.
Honest and engaged Americans, including Democrats, Independents and Republicans, now despise what this man did in the election campaign, and are livid at what he is trying to do to destroy the American nation as founded. They despise the mockery he has made of our Constitutional system of government. They despise his view of America, his apologies for America’s past, and his faux respect for the American military. They despise his golfing, his vacations, his wife’s in-your-face extravagance while she rails at the ‘hell’ of being First Lady.
Forget any poll that comes up with an approval rating in the 40’s. He’s nowhere near that among engaged Americans, and engaged Americans are going to decide the next several elections.
A few commentators have openly referred to this fraud factor (most recently,
Newt Gingrich).
But they don’t go on to really consider the ramifications of the total rupture of trust that follows as the normal human reaction to being defrauded. People go back and review every word and every action the con artist ever spoke to them or did with them—and reexamine every word and every action of those who enabled him and are still enabling him.
In Obama’s case, this has meant a wholesale re-examination of every word and action spurred by his real radical leftist philosophy, and an intense reexamination of just who his enablers are—people like Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi and Barney Frank and Chris Dodd and Barbara Boxer and on and on through everyone with a “D” by their name or “RINO” by their reputation. And the people do not like what they have seen and learned.
Tea partiers are on fire with a mission to restore the country they love; their ranks are swelling just about every day Obama or Reid or Pelosi opens his or her mouth; they are determined that this fraud is going to be undone. Abortion is barely on the radar screen of these people, and while most are far above average in the sincerity and practice of their faith, they are hardly
Christian theocracy
advocates.
A fraud has been fully exposed and is going to be fully expelled. It’s that simple.
Democrat strategists who believe the old ‘fear the right-wing Christians’ tactic will bring any sizable chunk of Americans back to Obama are delusional.
