New American Heroine: Robin of Berkeley
It’s time to draw attention to another
new American hero
who brings a unique voice to the war of ideas we are engaged in: Robin of Berkeley.
Robin (a pseudonym) has written regularly for the
American Thinker
website since May of 2009, and offers an uncommon perspective as a former flaming liberal still residing in the radical leftist enclave of Berkeley, California. With her professional background as a psychotherapist, she is particularly well-equipped to tear apart the lies peddled by the leftist worldview.
When you have some browsing time, take a look at her inventory of articles,
here.
Here’s a gem from her latest post:
"…why don't residents see the obvious: that's there's a connection between abandoning God and the un-Godliness of Berkeley's streets? The streets are filthy and uncivil; the crime rate spirals out of control. Because if God and His followers are chased out of town, what is left?
The radicals would argue that without a pesky, oppressive God, people are liberated. With no repressive authority spoiling the fun, the world becomes idyllic.
But when you obscure the sunshine, only darkness remains. Seal the windows, close the blinds, and what do you have? People alone in a pitch-black world, with nothing to shield or soothe them."
You’ll find almost all of her essays similarly insightful on the spiritual dimension of what is at stake in America and the world today. As we noted from even before Obama was elected, the surge of leftism that brought him to power was always about taking dead aim at America and America’s foundational Judeo-Christian faith in God. See
“Let’s Get Real About the Crisis facing America”.
Robin of Berkeley now sees this as clearly as anyone writing today.
It’s of course sad that concern for her own personal safety makes her feel compelled to write under a pseudonym. But thank goodness she feels compelled to write, and American Thinker has seen fit to give her a platform. She’s an especially inspirational example, in that she was once in the depths of
godless intellectualism,
a/k/a liberal mesmerism, but broke free of it through an honest, seeking heart. If this can happen once, it can happen again, and it can happen often and rapidly.
This is the real hope and change we should be
praying for.
Robin has found the truth of one of Ronald Reagan’s foundational observations: the war we are in is not a matter of left and right; it is
a matter of up or down—for all humanity.
There’s really only one side any human being should want to be on in
this war.
