Truth Never Declines; America Will Rise Again
Woeful expectation of American decline—and even acceptance of decline as a fait accompli--seems to be a growing theme of the punditry in 2010. Embracing this view places you, among other places, in the realm of the sophisticated intellectual dispassionately surveying the scene in America in relation to the fall or decline of other empires, such as Rome or even Great Britain.
There is a difference, however, and most of the punditry either does not know it or feel it, or if they do know and feel it, they have lost confidence in it. What is it?
Well, we know it drives the atheistic thought into apoplexy to say so, but the difference is that American ideals—the worldview based on individual freedom and responsibility under God, and expressed by her founding documents in terms of self-evident truths about the Creator, the created, and individual inalienable rights unimpaired by a limited human government—are grounded in Truth itself, or if you prefer a founders’ term, in divine Providence.
We aren’t the first to say so and surely will not be the last. If you’d like confirmation from someone outside the clerical realm, think of these words from US President Calvin Coolidge:
"In its main features the Declaration of Independence is a spiritual document. It is a declaration not of material but spiritual conceptions. Equality, liberty, popular sovereignty, the rights of man—these are not elements which we can see and touch. They are ideals. They have their source and their roots in religious convictions. They belong to the unseen world. Unless the faith of the American people in these religious convictions is to endure, the principles of our Declaration will perish. We cannot continue to enjoy the result if we neglect and abandon the cause. If all men are created equal, that is final. If they are endowed with inalienable rights, that is final. If governments derive their just power from the consent of the governed, that is final. No advance, no progress can be made beyond these propositions. If anyone wishes to deny their truth and their soundness, the only direction in which he can proceed historically is not forward, but backward toward the time when there was no equality, no rights of the individual, no rule of the people. Those who wish to proceed in that direction cannot lay claim to progress."
Truth never declines—it is always true. And as President Coolidge made clear, American ideals are final; they do not change and are always right. The condition of America does change, but only in relation to how well her citizens are following or turning away from her ideals.
Any picture of American decline, including the present picture, is never permanent. American ideals are always available to rescue the nation and its people and (here’s another comment that will drive the leftist nutty) to rescue the people of the world. We just have to turn back to them.
Americans of every size, shape, color, gender, etc., are turning back to them, in record numbers and with record intensity. The tea parties are the outward evidence of this, but for every tea party, there are millions more of conversations in homes and apartments and offices and churches (and online) across the country that are every bit as pointed and determined. It is a revival and renewal that is unprecedented in the experience of living Americans, and maybe of all Americans. Best of all, thanks to the wired, insta-spread nature of news and information, it is happening faster than would have been conceivable just a few decades ago.
Our far gone leftist element has had enough of an echo chamber in the Pravda media to sway just enough elected officeholders (Democrats all) to believe that Truth is changing and changeable; that American ideals are not final but transitory and subject to ‘updating’ by the clever words and tactics of demagogues; that they really have power over America. The March 21 healthcare vote was the pinnacle of this truth-less worldview.
The leftists do not have power, and they are going to find this out very soon. Not “sooner or later”, but very soon, and probably before elections formally reflect the already changed thoughts of the American people.
We can’t predict the exact way that this government will collapse, but it will. It has no truth behind it; its claim to power over America is ultimately the only thing that is transitory and illusory. The American people are not going to be stampeded into fear, panic and collapse. Even if the reckless spending and taxing moves of this administration bankrupt the nation’s finances and bring down the world’s financial system, and even if the utter moral vacuity of this administration results in evil exploding at points around the world, life will continue for the American people, and they will know exactly how to rebuild.
The American people also are not going to manipulated into hating their fellow man or woman, but they are going to fight to rid America of attitudes that do not accept or appreciate the goodness and divine Providence that lie behind America’s ‘birth’ and establishment.
And here’s the key to why it will happen faster than anyone currently expects: No one really hates American ideals. Those who think that they hate American ideals simply do not understand them in their true light. But they are capable of understanding them, because American ideals are written in their hearts. When they come to wake up to their true light, they will wonder why they were ever choosing to ‘fight against God’.
This wake up is occurring massively, daily, across this country. Well over a majority of America’s engaged citizens are wide awake now, and the size of the majority is growing every day. We are not divided 50/50 or anywhere close to 50/50; we are not a polarized society. It’s only the leftist Political Class and the Pravda media who spout these propositions (or impositions), and they depend on Americans being in a stupor in order to perpetuate these themes of propaganda.
There is no more stupor; and propaganda has nowhere to go. Truth is on the march; Truth is going to win. America will rise again.
