The Real Summer of Recovery
The BP oil leak and the GZM (that's Ground Zero mosque) have combined to make the summer of 2010 the real summer of recovery for America. The economy, of course, is not recovering, and the data-worshippers can paint a cataclysmic picture of what lies ahead for the American and world economies. But the recovery that HAD to take place before any economic recovery was
a recovery of the American spirit;
a renewed hallowing of American ideals and American exceptionalism. And before there could be any recovery of the American spirit, there had to be a final breaking of the hold of the Pravda media on American thought. This breaking has been ongoing for awhile, but thanks to BP and GZM, it is done.
Americans know, through alternative media and talk radio, that the BP oil leak has not been even close to the environmental catastrophe it was reported to be. They know the Obama regime stoked the hysteria to impose an unnecessary drilling moratorium that has cost hundreds of thousands of jobs. They witnessed abject, floundering incompetence in Obama’s response. They have been vividly reminded of how closely the oil-leak-as-greatest-environmental-catastrophe-in-history tracks the global-warming-will-destroy-the-planet hype. Both are lies; both have exposed as brightly as ever the purpose of radical leftism and their media to create crises in thought, with the underlying purpose
to induce panic,
and cause people to turn to their government god to solve the crisis. The people don’t like being played for fools, but now they’ve seen it happen with their own eyes and ears, courtesy of the BP oil leak.
The GZM is the gift of recovery to Americans that just keeps on giving. Americans have known for decades and put up with the media’s relentless hostility to Christianity. From banning prayer in schools, removing the Ten Commandments from public places, prohibiting crèches in public squares, to enshrining “Happy Holidays” into the mainstream vernacular, the Pravda media has been locked in to the destruction of Christianity. But along comes a proposal to build a mosque at Ground Zero, and all we get are Pravda lectures on ‘freedom of religion’ and other legal rights. One doesn’t have to be a political junkie to pick up the stench of this double standard.
The GZM has also brought to the forefront of American thought the question of Obama’s faith, and as the Pravda media goes into hyperdrive to defend Obama’s “Christian faith”, they expose themselves as unbelievably uninformed and inauthentic as to what real Christian faith is all about. The Pravda narrative is: Obama said he is Christian; he went to Jeremiah Wright’s ‘Christian’ church for 20 years; he consults with spiritual advisors regularly; he gets ‘devotionals’ on his Blackberry.
We’ve said several times that it’s fair to say no one knows for sure what’s inside someone else’s heart. But it’s also fair to say some other things. To say one is a Christian does not make it so. Jeremiah Wright, a former Muslim, preaches black liberation theology, which has nothing to do with Christianity. Consulting with spiritual advisors and receiving ‘devotionals’ means absolutely nothing as ‘proof’ of faith.
We also know Obama does not attend church on Sundays; we know his father was a Muslim; we know he attended an Islamic school while growing up in Indonesia; we know he thinks the Muslim call to prayer at sunset is one of ‘prettiest sounds on earth’; we know he bowed to the Saudi king; we know he said America is not a Christian nation. We also know none of these things constitute proof or disproof of faith. But they are facts.
It’s easy enough to construct the intellectual arguments by which all of these facts can be dismissed by those determined to defend Obama. But here’s an interesting point: if, as and when Obama identifies himself as a Muslim, and cries for his resignation follow because he lied about it, all of these same facts will be trotted out to prove that he really didn’t lie; that it should have been obvious to anyone that he was a Muslim. Hmmmmmmmmm…
In any event, we love watching the media expose themselves in describing how they think a Christian man of faith should behave. The old saying ‘it takes one to know one’ couldn’t be more true as restated: ‘if you’re not one, you can’t know one’. The Pravda media doesn’t have a single genuine Christian person of faith on its payroll, and that’s why they look foolish trying to rally the “Obama is a Christian!” story. They have no idea what they are talking about.
Here’s one thing we’re sure of: put in front of 100 Americans a picture of Obama and a picture of George W. Bush, and ask them which one they believe is a Christian. Even Pravda knows the answer to that one.
But back to our theme—all of this furor about Obama’s faith is really just another dimension of ‘who the hell is this guy?”, which is itself a proxy for the core feeling now held by a strong majority of Americans: Obama defrauded them; he’s anti-American in his worldview; and we don’t want this type as the President. And we have now detected and rejected a Pravda media consumed with telling us things about Obama or the BP oil leak or GZM that we know aren’t true or believable.
And so the media’s spell on the American people has been permanently broken, courtesy of the BP oil leak and the GZM. That’s the first step to a real recovery of the American spirit—which will manifest itself in historic fashion on November 2. Economic salvage, followed by recovery, will follow.
