Obama, Iran and Egypt
Protestors took to the streets demanding reforms in a Middle Eastern country controlled by tyrants; Obama ignored the protestors, downplayed their cause, and allied with the established regime.
Protestors took to the streets demanding reforms in another Middle Eastern country controlled by tyrants; Obama sides with the protestors and orchestrates support for transitioning power away from the established regime.
The first is Iran; the second is Egypt. Why the different treatment? As the answer starts to dawn on Americans, it is going to add to their angst to rid themselves of the Obama regime. In Iran, militant Islamists already control the government; in Egypt, a very, very likely successor to the Mubarak regime is a government of militant Islamists shaped by the Muslim Brotherhood.
Obama is siding with militant Islamists.
It’s the conclusion nobody wants to face, but it’s staring everyone in the face. Intellectuals and various media talking heads will go into hyperdrive to deny this conclusion and heap scorn on anyone who would dare voice such a simpleton’s explanation of such a deeply sophisticated and nuanced and complex matter of international relations. But it’s not difficult to see, and it flows directly from who Obama is.
And no, we’re not positing that Obama is himself a militant Islamist. Obama is a militant
liberal;
a militant
godless intellectual.
As we’ve noted before, militant liberalism and godless intellectualism view differences in religion to be about as important as the differences in the colors of crayons. In the leftist’s worldview, all religions are stupid.
But it just so happens that Obama grew up as a Muslim in Indonesia (remember
Barry Soetoro?),
which was part and parcel of his general alienation from and distrust of all things American. America is mostly white and Christian; growing up among dysfunctional, racist, communist malcontents like Frank Marshall Davis reinforced to Obama that everything white and Christian was wrong and needed to be set right. Jeremiah Wright doubled down on the same message (Wright's claim of any link to Christianity is a farce).
So we have an Obama who carries big chips on his shoulders over the 'white Christian oppressor' characterization of America in world history, and therefore we get an Obama Department of Justice that won’t prosecute the open-and-shut Black Panther voter intimidation cases, and we get an Obama Department of State that sides with Islamist regimes as part of a great level-the-playing-field vision of how America ought to be cut down to size in a world where no religion is better than any other and no system of government is better than any other.
And by the way, those feisty Jews are too small to worry about, and they get in the way of making Islam into a more prominent force in the world. So we have a reflexively anti-Israel Obama administration, no matter what is going on in the Middle East.
This is extremely dangerous; it is anti-Semitic; it is anti-Christian; it is anti-American. It is borne of ignorance and arrogance of the highest order—ignorance of the real and consequential differences in religion, and arrogance that smooth-talking can paper over these differences and everything will be just fine if we the smart people throw in enough bribes to buy enough peace to get through the next election cycle.
America is the national and governmental embodiment of Judeo-Christian ideals. It is those very ideals that constitute the foundation of American exceptionalism; that account for the extraordinary achievements of American society and the unprecedented force for good America has been in the history of the world. The reason those ideals have had those effects is because they are grounded in truth. No society grounded in any other religion has anywhere near the record of justice, equal treatment of women, freedom of speech and worship, charitable giving, and yes, basic economic prosperity.
There is a reason for that, too.
Americans know this; Obama doesn’t. And Americans know that Obama doesn’t. That’s why he has lost the trust of the American people; that’s why his speeches don’t connect anymore (and the truth is, they never really connected with the American heart and soul—they were manipulations intended to make the American heart and soul believe he was something he is not).
We don’t expect the “Obama is siding with militant Islamists” theme to be voiced widely in public anytime soon. No one wants to believe it could be true. And even as a few pundits come to see that it is true, they don’t want to process the implications or consider what has to be done to stop it. And they won’t want to bear the scorn that would come from voicing it.
But as always, the American people are out in front of the pundits and politicians. They have sized up Obama; they know he should never have been elected President; they know each day that goes by with a fraud in the White House is a dangerous day for America and the world. And they are waiting for a few good leaders to catch up with them, and start moving aggressively to reverse every single aspect of the Obama agenda. And to step up to the critical need of moral courage that
demands Obama’s resignation.
