New American Heroine: Christine O'Donnell

Yes, we know Christine O’Donnell lost the Delaware Senate race in November, after unseating RINO Mike Castle in the Republican primary. We know all about Karl Rove’s dissing of her candidacy at its outset; we heard all the high school witchcraft nonsense and saw the stupid political ads she chose to address the nonsense. (She also did a few good things— click here). She has a lot to learn in order to be successful as a leader—but our guess is, she will learn, and she will be a force to be reckoned with. Because whatever her shortcomings, she’s got, as Sarah Palin would say, cajones and has shown she will not be bullied by leftist punks. Americans will rally to this spirit.

This comes to mind as we witness various Pravda sources rushing out with ‘rumors’ of ‘criminal investigations’ of O’Donnell’s Senate campaign, and in particular with regard to ‘rumored’ use of campaign funds for personal expenses.

In the Pravda bubble world, where Pravda believes most Americans live but in reality only Pravda employees live, the proper ‘read’ of these rumors is to assign them credibility because, after all, our noble and high-minded Department of Justice would never politicize the process of law enforcement. We are supposed to accept the premise that O’Donnell is a loony; that ‘it figures…’ that she would do something like this; that ‘isn’t this typical of all tea party types?’ O’Donnell herself is supposed to play her bubble world role, plaintively asserting her innocence, and then hiding from further comment behind some ‘advice of counsel’ formalism.

Elites among us—both Democrat and Republican—are then supposed to tsk, tsk about it all as just another corrupt politician case, and then go back to whatever they were doing, as they anoint the next enlightened elitist to tell us what we should think and do.

Americans aren’t playing along with Pravda anymore; the whole scripted bubble world is collapsing. And people like Christine O’Donnell are making it collapse. They are refusing to play along; they are the real exponents of ‘speaking truth to power’; and they will over time expose this entire leftist, bullying regime as nothing but a bunch of empty suits.

Take a look at the statement she issued to the public in response to the Pravda rumors:

Campaign Manager Matt Moran responded to the rumor of a criminal investigation, "We have heard absolutely nothing other than the same unsubstantiated allegations and rumors that have been circulating in the press for months. "If anything does materialize from this rumor, we will continue to fully cooperate as we have made every attempt to ensure we are in compliance with all rules and regulations. The politically motivated charge was all started by false accusations by Christine's political opponents, and ratcheted up by former Biden staffer Melanie Sloan and CREW with their false claims. Let us be clear: there was no impermissible use of campaign funds. Period. This is just an ongoing effort by the George Soros-funded CREW and other liberal groups and individuals to intimidate and threaten Christine, even after the election."

Christine O'Donnell continued, "Since anonymous sources are being taken seriously, please allow me to share some tips I've received and keep the tipsters' identities anonymous. We've been warned by multiple high-ranking Democrat insiders that the Delaware Democrat and Republican political establishment is jointly planning to pull out all the stops to ensure I would never again upset the apple cart. Specifically they told me the plan was to crush me with investigations, lawsuits and false accusations so that my political reputation would become so toxic no one would ever get behind me. I was warned by numerous sources that the DE political establishment is going to use every resource available to them. So given that the King of the Delaware Political Establishment just so happens to be the Vice President of the most liberal Presidential administration in U.S. history, it is no surprise that misuse and abuse of the FBI would not be off the table. And further connecting the dots, do you think it is just a coincidence that Melanie Sloan was a senior Biden staffer just before she joined CREW and filed her complaint against me?!

"I have faith that our supporters and the general public will see right through these thug tactics. This is simply an Establishment trick to stop the anti-establishment Tea Party movement in its tracks. Heck, the Presidency is at stake in 2012."

When we read a statement like that, we have to work pretty hard to resist the urge to stand up and cheer. This is not a business-as-usual statement. This is not the polished work of elitist, politically correct PR advisers. This is the statement of someone who still believes there is such a thing as truth, and that truth matters. And the statement itself has a ring of truth to it that most Americans intuitively feel.

Now, does this mean she’ll avoid a prosecution? No. Does it mean there’s no chance a prosecutor can find some i not dotted or t not crossed in the campaign’s records? Hardly. Campaign laws are like tax laws—so many and so complicated that any prosecutor on a mission can find something wrong. But to us the statement means this woman is not going to play defense; she is not going to be intimidated by an establishment that doesn’t like her rebellious, upset-the-established-order attitude; she is going to force them to a higher standard of integrity. They will have to stop the rumors and come out in the open and prove their case, or they will have to fold.

Truth will do this to lies every time, but it takes people willing to speak the truth and stand on the truth. America was built by people willing to do so, and Christine O’Donnell has shown herself to be one of them. For that, she is in our view a new American heroine.

And just assume for a moment that O'Donnell just nailed the truth with her statement. What a sweet irony: in their effort to destroy O'Donnell once and for all, the establishment may have just lifted her to an electable level she could never have reached on her own.
