Waking Up from the Soros/Obama Nightmare

America’s foundational ideals will free us from this nightmare, if we uphold them…

We wish we had a dollar for every time we’ve read or heard Americans voice the feeling that what they are seeing happen to this country after the election of 2008 must be some kind of a nightmare from which they dearly hope they will awaken soon. Most commentators would say, however, that it’s real, and we’re not going to wake up out of it. We’re going to have to fight our way through with better election results in 2010 and 2012.

We think a nightmare is the right metaphor, but we wouldn’t give up on the idea that waking up is possible. The alternative to waking up is a nightmare that will grow much worse—one that may involve millions of deaths of innocent men and women. We’ll explain.

As best we can tell, Barack Obama is off on the most monumental ego trip ever witnessed by living Americans; an ego trip built on the sophistry and spiritual shallowness of intellect. It is headed to catastrophe for him and for humanity; the only question is how painful will it be to recover from the moral confusion and other foolishness he is sowing.

Here’s what we wrote before Obama was inaugurated:

We’ve not seen any evidence to suggest Obama has any real faith in anything besides himself and the ‘correctness’ of the liberal worldview. This worldview is the essence of arrogant, godless intellectualism, and it will lead directly to disaster because at its core, it is a denial of the existence of truth.

… our take is that this is a man who believes he has a superior intellect that permits him to condescend to people of faith, and to faith itself. For him, religion is a political prop—an affiliation that is useful in some settings and not so useful in others—but certainly of no transcendent or day-to-day importance. And whatever he may have heard or not heard in Jeremiah Wright’s church, one doesn’t have to listen to Wright’s rants very long to know that Wright’s preaching has little or nothing to do with Christianity. So when Obama spoke in an unguarded moment of religious people as ‘bitter’ and clinging to religion to cover for their biases and shortcomings, we had a sense he was speaking honestly as to his actual view of religion. Which says a great deal also about his view of God.

Five months later, we wouldn’t take back a word. With his trip to Saudi Arabia and Egypt; his previous denial of America as a Christian nation; his comment that America is one of the largest Muslim countries in the world; his refusal to participate in the National Prayer breakfast; his non-attendance at any church since his inauguration—we see the outline of what we feared. He really seems to think Islam and Christianity are not materially different (both are for people much smaller in mind than he), and that the power of his persona, or biography, is enough to make Jews and Christians and Muslims achieve peace in our time by yielding to his transcendent vision of common secularly defined values.

Last January, we continued:

Obama’s understanding of evil seems narrowly confined to his notion, stated in one of his two autobiographies, of ‘white folks’ greed [running] a world in need’. This is not brilliant discernment; it is babe-in-the-woods foolishness and naiveté. The foremost evil facing the world today is Islamofacism’s war against Judeo-Christian civilization, and it has nothing to do with skin color. It is plainly a war about religion. … the reality is that it is religion, and humanity’s quest to understand God—not politics, not economics, and not global warming—that over generations really shape human progress or human backtracking. When Obama shows signs of really believing there is moral equivalence and therefore a livable compromise between Hamas and Israel, he is truly in the intellectual’s realm of foolishness. Hamas’ guiding ideology and theology are evil, period, and evil must be confronted and defeated, not legitimized and accommodated.

Islamofascism and other forms of evil will confront America as evil always has, and it will not be about skin color. It will be because those who embrace evil hate the idea of individual freedom and responsibility under the one God. Obama doesn’t know what evil is, but will seek along with the media to redefine evil as good, or appease it and accommodate it and announce peace in our time. But this won’t work because it isn’t true and can’t be done. The danger from America’s enemies will escalate in the face of this naiveté, and if that danger materializes, 9/11 will be small in comparison.

Again, five months later, we wouldn’t take back a word. Obama is a paper-thin, arrogant intellectual who doesn’t know what he doesn’t know. This is a spiritually empty and cynical man who developed a messianic complex on a bedrock of abject moral confusion. He has placed himself, the United States of America and the world in extreme danger—a nightmare of historic proportions.

So how can we wake up and get free of this nightmare?

No one wants violence or war to be the only answer (see “It Need Not Take a War to Wake Up America" ). The relief of waking up from any bad dream comes from the recognition and affirmation of what is true, stable and lasting—in contrast to the false pictures in the nightmare. Americans of every stripe are going to have to recognize and affirm in their daily lives each of these truths. No backing down; no apologizing; no compromising.

Here are some of these truths.

• Judaism, expanded upon through Christianity, is the source of the foundational teaching of man’s birthright of individual freedom and responsibility under God.

• Judeo-Christian teaching as to the birthright of man ultimately—after centuries of struggle— gave birth to America and the American system of government. It is a system grounded in faith in a loving Creator who has endowed His creation with the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. It is a system most assuredly not grounded in faith in humans and human government as creators or controllers of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

• This foundational Judeo-Christian teaching has been the springboard for humanity’s progress, but it is constantly opposed to what we’ve called the “FHI”, or faithless human intellect. It is also opposed by Islam which, from a vengeful, hateful, tyrannical view of God, has distorted the idea of individual freedom and responsibility under God into one of submission to the absolutes of sharia law under Imams and their fatwas.

• Judeo-Christian teaching, culminating through Jesus into the understanding of God as love, leads to a society (or ‘civilization’ if you prefer), characterized to a much greater degree—i.e., orders of magnitude more— than any other society or civilization, by individual initiative, excellence and achievement, and by mercy, tolerance and forgiveness. This is what is known as “Western civilization”, and it is better than any alternative. REPEAT: it is better than any alternative.

• The political philosophy that honors and seeks to shape its initiatives so as to conform to this Judeo-Christian teaching is the one that will preserve and promote the greatest potential for human progress. Whatever that philosophy has been called in the past, or whatever it may be called in the future, today it is called ‘conservatism’. Its antithesis today is called “liberalism”.

These truths have to be vocally defended and supported by everyday Americans, more than at any other time in America’s history. We must stand up and be counted, and not just on election day. American society, founded on Judeo-Christian teaching, is better for humanity and human progress than any other. This has always been true, because the teaching is true. We may not live up to it as much as we should, but the fault lies in us and not in the teaching. Again, this teaching is better than any other. Keep that straight. No backing down; no apologizing; no compromising. As this is done, we will find the Obama nightmare receding, and a more stable, hopeful and faithful outlook taking hold. Evil will still be around, and attacks on freedom will still come, but we’ll be able to discern them, anticipate them, and defeat them more readily and convincingly.

If it is not done, we are in the dangerous never-never land where no one knows the difference between good and evil, no one knows what is better for humanity or worse, no one knows whether to fight or what to fight for. We are in the middle of George Soros’ open society, where no set of values is any better or worse than any other set of values, and values derived from the Judeo-Christian faith tradition are especially to be denounced. We are in the middle of Obama’s worldview, where “any world order that elevates one nation over another will fail”. This is evil’s playground; this is the stage for enormous disaster; this is the nightmare.

Wake up, America!
