Truth Will Not Be Transformed - and Neither Will America

We can understand why there is so much fear rampant in the country; we have a ruling class wildly out of touch and out of synch with the American people. Recent polling data shows 67% of those identified with the “Political Class” believe the country is headed in the right direction, while 84% of normal Americans believe it is headed in the wrong direction.

Think about that: two out of three Beltway types think we’re rolling down the right track; five out of six Americans that make the country work think the opposite. This kind of data from bifurcated polling samples hasn’t been around very long, but we would guess that the post-Constitution-ratification United States of America has never been in this position.

In fact, the last time we can even imagine a ruling class this out of synch with those (they believe) they ‘rule’ was in the mid-1700’s, when King George and his entourage probably thought things were going along very well with the American colonies. The colonists didn’t see it that way. We know how that ‘disconnect’ was resolved.

Historians of a certain worldview may believe the American Revolution was won by the colonists because of a combination of success and luck on various battlefields, the relative proportions of heroes and scoundrels on each side, the logistic/supply chain advantages of the colonists, etc., and they would be right in certain narrow respects. But in the deepest sense, the American Revolution was won when Thomas Jefferson penned the Declaration of Independence, and proclaimed what he originally labeled ‘sacred and undeniable’ truths, and later amended to ‘self-evident’ truths, that all men are created equal and that they are endowed by their Creator with inalienable rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

The words were Thomas Jefferson’s; the ideas behind those words are divine—or as Jefferson originally wrote, ‘sacred and undeniable’. They represent a foundation of truth that cannot be removed. And in the progress of the human race, they represented a step forward that cannot be reversed or, in Obama’s words, fundamentally transformed.

But the idea of freedom as a gift of God, tempered by morality as the guidance of God, has always been resisted by that which hates the ideas of God and morality. St. Paul referred to this resistance as the ‘carnal mind’ which was ‘enmity against God’.

It is tragic, bewildering, disheartening and frustrating to see how deeply ensnared into the carnal mind a group of American leaders and their followers, particularly in the media, have become. Obama, Reid, Pelosi, Clinton and those around them are trying to destroy the God-given blessing to humanity that is America no less than the Nazis, communists, fascists and Islamists have tried to destroy it (and in most cases continue to try to this day). As always, arrogance, blindness, malice or ignorance, or some combination of all four, are driving them. But regardless of their motivation or personal culpability, they will suffer the same fate as the others, because they cannot win. Fighting against truth is a losing battle.

Human beings are not ‘socialist’ creatures of an almighty State; they are not soulless ‘carbon units’ to be ordered, directed and controlled by carbon units of superior DNA. They are individual children of an almighty God, capable of greatness, goodness, law and order when living in freedom and in humble acknowledgement of who they really are, and in humble obedience to the moral laws that they know in their heart are right and necessary for civilized society and human progress. (For another exploration of this theme, see We Do Not Want This”).

The American Founders’ generation was filled with men and women who knew this. The American population of today is also filled—to a far greater extent than the media knows—with men and women who know this. They are wide awake and preparing for what it will take to preserve, protect and defend this country and its divine ideals for future generations. One election cycle will not be enough to do the job; removal of Obama will not be enough. It may take 10-20 years to reset American government to align with American culture. But it will happen, and perhaps much faster than anyone expects.

What Obama and Soros et.al. are learning, or at least witnessing, is the lesson that all the money and all the guns and all the propaganda machinery in the world cannot change or defeat truth. We’d wish them all a Saul-to-Paul conversion, because at the end of the day, the darkness they are espousing and trying to impose on everyone will hurt them the most. They are distancing themselves from the goodness and greatness of America and her/their heritage, and are intoxicated by fame, an illusion of power, and an elitist view of themselves. They have a long, ugly ‘detox’ ahead of them.

America is in recovery mode, though not yet in economic terms. But this recovery of the spirit and of truth must precede any economic recovery, just as they preceded victory in the first American Revolution, and are preceding victory in the second American Revolution.
