A New-Old American Hero: The Old Jarhead

In June 2009, we posted an essay titled “New American Heroes Will Arise”, and included these words:

Because the scope of Obama’s fraud on the American nation, and the breadth of his previously concealed radical left agenda, are just too large to ignore, too much to stomach. Their sweep encompasses ordinary Americans across the country, and contrary to the view of Pravda and the elitists, ordinary Americans aren’t really ordinary. They are the salt of the earth. They know a lie when they see one; they have picked up the smell of fraud; and they don’t let their birthright of freedom go down without a fight, based on some contrived poll that says they really, really, really want to.

Who are these others? Could be a judge someplace that calls a liar and a lie by their real names; could be another Rick Santelli who loses it and finally speaks the truth on the air; could be a school teacher offended by the false indoctrination s/he is forced to pass along to students; could be someone who infiltrates the carefully scripted Potemkin Village ‘townhall’ meetings; could be a coach, an athlete, a soldier, a librarian, an accountant—anyone who loves America and has had enough of the lies, the arrogant Political Class, and the Pravda government-run media. When those other(s) give voice to their complete disgust at what is going on, the ‘resonation-factor’ is going to be off the charts.

About four months before our posting, a retired soldier by the name of Robert Hall, writing on his own blog, “The Old Jarhead”, gave voice to his complete disgust at what is going on, and his piece “I’m Tired…” has a ‘resonation-factor’ that is off the charts. How do we know? Because while we don’t remember the first time we saw his piece circulated, we can report that nearly two years later, it is still circulating on the internet, and has travelled all over the world, reappearing again this week.

We’ll provide excerpts below, but if you want to read the full text of Hall’s posting, click here. But to us, the points worth highlighting are the power of the internet to make voices like Hall’s heard around the world, and the re-circulating power of the internet that gives ‘legs’ to pieces like his for months and even years. Just half a generation ago, the shelf-life of influential essays in the print media was about a week, and the re-circulation potential was about zero. But our own email records tell us that Hall’s piece woke people up when he posted it in February 2009, has been waking people up regularly since then, and now is stirring thought internationally. The piece has been distributed so widely it even has a snopes.com confirmation of its authenticity.

All of this takes place under the radar of the Pravda media, and all of it would be reflexively discounted as an opinion-shaper by the Pravda media. Yet it is precisely that, and it is one of millions of coals being thrown on the ‘brushfires of freedom’ that continue to burn across America and the world. It is fueling the tea parties, which have only begun to exercise their power to restore America.

So do your part to keep the brushfires burning. Spread the good words of 'salt of the earth' people like Robert Hall. He calls himself old, but his message is ageless, and he is a new-old American hero for speaking up. His message resonates in a way that a thousand left-wing rebuttals never will. And his message will change minds and hearts—back to the bedrock values of the American founding.

NUGGETS from “I’m Tired”

…I've worked, hard, since I was 18. Despite some health challenges, I still put in 50-hour weeks, and haven't called in sick in seven or eight years. I make a good salary, but I didn't inherit my job or my income, and I worked to get where I am. Given the economy, there's no retirement in sight, and I'm tired. Very tired.

I'm tired of being told that I have to "spread the wealth" to people who don't have my work ethic. I'm tired of being told the government will take the money I earned, by force if necessary, and give it to people too lazy to earn it.

I'm tired of being told that Islam is a "Religion of Peace," when every day I can read dozens of stories of Muslim men killing their sisters, wives and daughters for their family "honor"; of Muslims rioting over some slight offense; of Muslims murdering Christian and Jews because they aren't "believers"; of Muslims burning schools for girls; of Muslims stoning teenage rape victims to death for "adultery"; of Muslims mutilating the genitals of little girls; all in the name of Allah, because the Qur'an and Shari'a law tells them to.

I'm tired of being told that out of "tolerance for other cultures" we must let Saudi Arabia use our oil money to fund mosques and madrassa Islamic schools to preach hate in America, the UK and Canada, while no American, UK nor Canadian group is allowed to fund a church, synagogue or religious school in Saudi Arabia to teach love and tolerance.

I'm tired of being told I must lower my living standard to fight global warming, which no one is allowed to debate. I'm tired of being told that drug addicts have a disease, and I must help support and treat them, and pay for the damage they do. Did a giant germ rush out of a dark alley, grab them, and stuff white powder up their noses while they tried to fight it off?

I'm tired of hearing wealthy athletes, entertainers and politicians of both parties talking about innocent mistakes, stupid mistakes or youthful mistakes, when we all know they think their only mistake was getting caught. I'm tired of people with a sense of entitlement, rich or poor.

I'm real tired of people who don't take responsibility for their lives and actions. I'm tired of hearing them blame the government, police or discrimination or big-whatever for their problems.

Yes, I'm damn tired. But I'm also glad to be 63. Because, mostly, I'm not going to have to see the world these people are making. I'm just sorry for my grandchildren.
