New American Heroes Will Arise
The spirit of America is God-given; that’s why it will not die…
We’re not the first to note the sweeping disconnect between the mood of engaged Americans (which is decidedly and increasingly opposed to the entire Obama agenda) and the Washington Political Class, which seems determined to stampede radical legislation through the Congress, the people’s desires be damned. We’re also not the only ones who read, and hear first hand almost every day, the anguish of Americans who lament that no one and nothing seems to be willing to stand up for the common sense they know and feel in their hearts—TO STOP THIS GOVERNMENT, RIGHT NOW.
If we never looked beyond the Political Class, we’d share the despair that a lot of Americans are feeling. Virtually every Washingtonian—Democrat and Republican—is out of touch, yet so practiced are all of them in gas-baggery that they seem able to deflect the people’s passion with earnest statements of concern and good intention, plow forward with whatever they want to do, and then finagle their way to re-election in 9 out of 10 cases.
We think this is going to change, and change dramatically, but the change-agents are not going to be household names or tenured members of the Political Class. They are going to be newcomers to the political scene; they may wear the label of either political party or no party; they may be male or female; black, brown, yellow or white-skinned; they may be rich, poor or in between--but they will have one thing in common: they will be American to the core. We’ve often cited Peter Ferrara’s essay on
"What is an American?",
but we’ll summarize it this way: an individual, blessed by and devoted to the American ideal of individual freedom and personal responsibility, with integrity.
These newcomers are going to inject some common sense into the American dialogue, with positions such as these:
• We don’t want nationalized healthcare. We live in real America; we’ve interacted with the Department of Motor Vehicles and the IRS—and we know a few things that are facts of life: the government doesn’t do anything efficiently and effectively; quality service is never a characteristic of a government program; and government bureaucrats are generally the least helpful, most rude people one ever encounters. We don’t want to hand over healthcare to the government in light of these facts of life. Not now. Not ever. • We don’t want the government running car companies or any other company. We don’t believe anything will get better under government ownership. We want car companies, and all companies, to be free to compete to make products that we want, and if they don’t succeed well enough to meet their debts, we want them to fail in favor of the companies that do. Get the hell out of GM and Chrysler.
• We are sick of hysteria about global warming. We simply do not believe there is settled science about it, and we absolutely do not believe there is any politician who understands any science, settled or unsettled. It is insane for politicians to go forward with this level of uncertainty and lack of knowledge into the creation of laws to regulate virtually every aspect of human activity while taxing most of it to death. We demand a stop to cap-and-trade legislation, and an end to the EPA’s regulation of carbon dioxide.
• We know from living real lives that it is not possible to spend money that we do not have, or to borrow money from grandchildren and great-grandchildren that don’t have any money because they don’t exist yet. We do not make promises to our children or other family members that we know we cannot keep. We therefore oppose the ridiculous spending that the Political Class is doing and demand that it stop; we demand that broken promises like Social Security and Medicare be unwound, and that no new promises be made that cannot be kept.
• We are tired of being fed lines about ‘transparency’ and ‘ethics’ and ‘reform’; the Political Class is not transparent; it has no ethics; and will never reform itself unless and until it is removed by the people, lock, stock and barrel.
We don’t know if
Gerald Walpin,
the Inspector General cashiered Chicago-style by the Obama administration, will end up being one of these newcomers. He’s shown a strong sense of personal responsibility and integrity, despite the withering personal assault the left is waging against him. The Obama administration is dead wrong and has been flat out dishonest in its handling of this, and Walpin’s willingness to stick with the truth is having a positive, awakening, energizing effect, whether or not Pravda will admit it.
Anita Moncrief
is another; her willingness to expose the corruption of ACORN is a testament to her character and an overwhelming reminder that love for honesty and hatred of dishonesty does not vary by our skin color.
Walpin and Monrief are just two examples; there will be many others. Because the scope of Obama’s fraud on the American nation, and the breadth of his previously concealed radical left agenda, are just too large to ignore, too much to stomach. Their sweep encompasses ordinary Americans across the country, and contrary to the view of Pravda and the elitists, ordinary Americans aren’t really ordinary. They are the salt of the earth. They know a lie when they see one; they have picked up the smell of fraud; and they don’t let their birthright of freedom go down without a fight, based on some contrived poll that says they really, really, really want to.
Who are these others? Could be a judge someplace that calls a liar and a lie by their real names; could be another Rick Santelli who loses it and finally speaks the truth on the air; could be a school teacher offended by the false indoctrination s/he is forced to pass along to students; could be someone who infiltrates the carefully scripted Potemkin Village ‘townhall’ meetings; could be a coach, an athlete, a soldier, a librarian, an accountant—anyone who loves America and has had enough of the lies, the arrogant Political Class, and the Pravda government-run media. When those other(s) give voice to their complete disgust at what is going on, the ‘resonation-factor’ is going to be off the charts. The tide of public opinion will morph into a tsunami, and the Obama administration won’t know what hit it.
It’s hard not to be discouraged when you look at what passes for political leadership in America today. But new American heroes will arise where the elites least expect them. Mark our words.
