Lawless Government has No Authority: Remember the Bull

It’s amazing how quickly the Pravda media and their left-wing puppeteers began pounding into Americans’ heads that we must now refer to Obamacare as ‘the law of the land’. There’s an obvious sense of urgency to define the debate as over; to get some mythical fence-straddling American to shrug off what Congress has done, and resignedly move forward with some sort of perverse patriotism that decides our duty as citizens is to learn to live with it.

Not gonna happen.

No matter how often or in how many ways this radical left-wing administration tries to wrap itself in the mantle of legitimate government authority, Americans aren’t buying it. They witnessed with their own eyes and ears the most brazen, corrupt, criminally defiant act of Congress against the will of the people that has ever happened in American history. Other socialist aims and ambitions have been pursued in the past, and some were passed into law, but never on strict party lines, and never before when the technology of opinion polling was developed enough and sufficiently widespread to tell the Congress before the vote that the American people plainly, simply and unambiguously did not want them to vote for this legislation.

This is, therefore, not an action that will ever be ‘the law of the land’. Doesn’t matter what the vote count was or whether some surface level compliance with Congressional procedure can be certified by Louise Slaughter or anyone else. Doesn’t matter whether Obama signed the law and proclaimed it the law of the land. It’s the unconscionable action of a lawless government—of a group of people who have lied their way into the trappings of power, and believe they are absolute rulers of the masses instead of elected officials whose only authority and legitimacy in America can come from the consent of the governed.

Some Americans may be doubtful that we really can overturn or repeal or otherwise disregard this monstrosity. They know the trappings of lawyers and judges and bureaucrats, and may conclude it’s all too much to overcome. Fear not.

There’s a great joke out of Texas that reassures Americans better than any essay could. With full credit to our friends at the Patriot Post the Patriot Post for bringing it to our attention, here it is:

A Drug Enforcement Administration officer stops at a ranch in Texas and talks with an old rancher. He tells the rancher, "I'm here to inspect your ranch for marijuana."

The rancher points and says, "Okay, but don't go in that field over there."

"Mister," the DEA officer explodes, "I've got the authority of the federal government with me!" He produces his badge from his pocket and proudly displays it to the rancher. "See this? This badge means I'm allowed to go wherever I want -- no questions asked or answers given. Have I made myself clear? You understand me, old man?"

The rancher nods politely, apologizes, and goes about his chores.

A short time later, the old rancher hears loud screams and sees the DEA officer running for his life chased by the rancher's gigantic Santa Gertrudis bull.

With every step the bull is gaining ground on the officer, and it seems likely that he'll get gored before he reaches safety.

The officer is clearly terrified.

The rancher throws down his tools, runs to the fence and yells at the top of his lungs: "Your badge. Show him your BADGE!"
