Freedom Will Not Be Denied

The core principle of America is individual freedom and responsibility under God. This principle wasn’t the creation of the Founding Fathers; the greatness of America’s Founding Fathers was that they risked their lives, fortunes and sacred honor to establish a government system based on it. There is abundant genius in many dimensions of the structure, checks and balances, and limitations they worked into the Constitution, but the overriding achievement was to establish a nation where all citizens would have the chance to thrive under that core principle of individual freedom and responsibility under God.

This core principle is vital to humanity’s progress. It was actually the driving force behind Moses’ leadership of the children of Israel out of bondage; it was further exemplified and explained by Christ Jesus. America is simply the first country to invoke this principle in the establishment of a nation.

We shouldn’t be surprised that America has been under attack on so many occasions. The idea that man has a right to freedom that comes from someone or something other than a human ruler is powerfully upsetting to many who have a stake in the other way of thinking—most notably those who aspire to be or to continue as human rulers. The Egyptian Pharoah had second thoughts about letting the Israelites go; and the conventional Roman/Jewish leaders tried to put an end to Jesus’ career. And so America, too, has been under assault as the bastion of freedom and the love of God. The names given to those assaulting America have been different over the years—Nazism, imperialism, communism—but the open secret is that their common thread is really atheism, or if not outright atheism, a God-is-dead or God-is-irrelevant agnosticism that tries to stamp out any and all vestiges of God-defined order and morality in the human condition. There are always high-minded descriptions of its goal—equality, fairness, justice—but in reality all of these movements of thought replace freedom and morality under God with the absolute tyranny of the unredeemed human mind, hell-bent to exercise power and control over everyone. They lead to a godless, lifeless, anarchic state of existence, enjoyed only by those who control the levers of power.

Over the long term, these movements never succeed. They do not succeed because they are fighting against truth itself, and that fight is impossible to win. But the fight itself can cause a lot of damage to humanity—over 100 million lives were lost before the last worldwide movement was defeated in World War II and the Cold War.

We’re now involved in the next great struggle against America, only this time it’s dressed up in an American disguise. The first African-American President of a country that once allowed slavery! What could seem better as a validation of American ideals? But it was and is a disguise; the mask is off, and the number of people recognizing this fact is gradually but steadily growing. It looks like we’ll use the name ‘socialism’ to describe this latest movement, but again, it boils down to the same amoral, atheistic movement it has always been.

But wait—you say! Obama is a Christian, or if he’s not, he’s a Muslim—either way, he’s certainly not an atheist, right? Obama is not a man of faith, as any genuine person of faith knows. It’s not possible to fake these things. You can say all the right things; you can even quote Scripture in support of your message, but there is a countenance of the truly humble and spiritually-minded, and it’s obvious when it’s present, and it’s obvious when it’s not. Obama doesn’t have it. He’s an egotist, a narcissist, a man on a self-deluding messianic power trip.

Far worse than Obama is the money man behind the entire orchestrated charade that got Obama elected—George Soros. This is a man who was first mad at God, and then apparently decided there was no God, and has since concluded that all evil in the world has its source in anyone and anything professing faith, love, prayer and obedience to God. That means enemy No. 1 to Soros’ ideal of an 'open society' is the America of the founding—the America of individual freedom and responsibility under God.

The agenda for the destruction of America of the founding is now visible:

Reckless, unfathomable amounts of government spending that can only be paid for with loss of freedom—meaning initiative-deadening taxes, or social-compact killing devaluation of the dollar.

Nationalization of healthcare, which is the near perfect channel for converting free and self-reliant people to wards of the state, dependent entirely on government bureaucracies for something as fundamental as health.

Imposing a ‘cap-and-trade’ system to address global warming—which is another near perfect channel for converting free, responsible, and naturally problem-solving people into mindless robots who surrender a wide range of freedom in obedience to a government mandated faith in a ‘consensus’ of computer modelers.

Relaxation of immigration law enforcement (Nancy Pelosi has articulated her view that it is un-American to enforce the immigration laws)—a step which radically undercuts the entire concept of the rule of law by positing that there can be a separation between the exercise of freedom (to live in this country) and the exercise of responsibility (to obey the laws of the land).

Demonization of ‘capitalism’, which is really nothing more that demonizing those who have thrived under freedom. The all-out, quasi-Stalinist, attempted purge of AIG-bonus recipients for performing and abiding by contracts freely entered into is truly unbelievable. That media outlets like CNN would broadcast death threats to those recipients, as government officials demand the public release of their names, is something that should frighten anyone with an ounce of comprehension of the principles America was founded upon. “Oh yeah?—but what about the irresponsible behavior that these people engaged in that caused all this economic turmoil?” We’re a long way from knowing exactly what irresponsible behavior by which people ‘caused’ this turmoil. The fact is the government knew about these contracts before authorizing the bailouts, and expressly exempted the bonus payments from any statutory limitation. If there is irresponsibility in this situation, the No. 1 culprit is the government.

The America of the founding should have as its staunchest defenders the leaders of the Judeo-Christian faith. Sadly, the state of that faith has been so diluted by the humanism and secularism of the last 50 years that far too many of the so-called leaders are not only not defending the America of the founding; they are jumping on board with one or more of the agenda items that are hastening America’s and their demise.

So where is the basis of hope? We don’t know what Sam Adams would say today, but we believe his original faith in ‘brushfires of freedom’ in the minds of men as sufficient to overthrow any tyranny is just as valid today as when he first uttered it. Brushfires are symbolic of light, and brushfires of freedom are the light stoked by truth itself. This light won’t be extinguished; it can’t be extinguished. And the attraction of freedom under God is wired into humanity; it cannot be unwired—it’s a done deal. Truth is even now leavening, sorting, refining and adjusting the observations, discernment and attitudes of Americans (and remember the answer to the question, who is an American? ). We think the necessary wake up of Americans is ongoing, and it will be broad enough and deep enough to defeat this latest attack. We’re not prophets, so we can’t say how it will happen, and we surely hope it will not involve violence.

For our part, we think resignation is noblest thing Obama could do. He’s a long way from seeing this handwriting on the wall, but we think he will, soon.
