The DHS Report: Gasoline on Brushfires!!!!

The clarifying power of truth—so helpful in the Somali ‘pirates’ episode, which we commented on here —is now working wonders on the domestic front. Michelle Malkin (and others) were able to confirm the authenticity of a Department of Homeland Security report titled, “Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment.”

It’s a tribute to the integrity of Ms. Malkin and others in the blogosphere who, before commenting, took the time and went to the effort to confirm the report was not a hoax. The fact that it is not a hoax has further revealed with devastating impact the radical left worldview that is attempting to govern this country. The Pravda media may write a Section B, page 17, below-the-fold report about it, but we think the publicity given to the DHS report via the web will serve as high octane gasoline thrown on the Brushfires that are burning throughout this country. We thought the tea water was boiling last week; we don’t know the word to describe boiling times ten, but that’s what’s happening now.

You can read the DHS report for yourself, pdf here. And Ms. Malkin, Rush Limbaugh, and many others have discussed excerpts that you can also review. We just want to be sure to be on record as to just what we believe this report represents in its deepest significance. Rush may talk of its timing being related to the tea parties, and others will spend time showing the nominal targeting of various sub-categories of conservatism. But you need to face what you may not want to face: this DHS report is part of an agenda that represents an all-out assault on Christianity by the executive branch of the United States government. Let’s repeat so that we make sure there’s no misunderstanding: this DHS report is part of an agenda that represents an all-out assault on Christianity by the executive branch of the United States government.

We first spoke of this agenda before the 2008 election in an essay titled, “Let’s Get Real About the Crisis Facing America”. We didn’t know how long it would take for Americans in general and the Christian community in particular to wake up to this threat; we wondered how long the Pravda media could keep everything under wraps. But as Shakespeare said, ‘the truth will out’, and it is ‘outing’ more thoroughly and powerfully than we ever thought possible.

When DHS defines radical extremism to include those who harbor views “rejecting federal authority in favor of state or local authority”—it is describing America’s Founding Fathers!!! When DHS says law enforcement must be alert to “groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single issue, such as opposition to abortion…”, it is tantamount to putting the Catholic church and millions of Protestants on a terrorist watch list. When DHS takes the view that those who support enforcement and not abandonment of the laws relating to immigration and citizenship are ‘extremists’, it is setting the stage for the most secular and authoritarian definition of law as has ever been attempted in the nation’s history.

Limited government, support for the inalienable right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, and respect for the borders and the rights and responsibilities of citizenship of a law-abiding nation are Judeo-Christian principles at the very core of America. To impliedly characterize these views as ‘hate-oriented’ is purely and simply diabolical.

The tragedy for America is that the Christian faith of so many of our leaders is now so weak or confused that many of them (especially on the Democrat side) really don’t even know what is happening. We’d guess DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano would be happy to be put under oath with her hand on the Bible, and then proceed to tell herself and her audience that none of this is anti-religion and certainly not anti-Christian. She’d find dozens of spiritually dull pastors who’d join with her. She and they simply can’t see that there is no way to define what is ‘extreme’ without a moral reference point for what is true and right. When the US Constitution is ignored, and its Judeo-Christian moorings are denied as the American foundation for that reference point, moral judgment is no longer guided by a higher power but by human power—by the mere opinion of those controlling the levers of power in government. It in fact ceases to be a moral judgment at all; it is simply a power play.

Sadly, Napolitano and her pastor allies would join a long list of those who’ve been called ‘useful idiots’: those whom George Soros and his ilk—who really do know what they are doing—can manipulate to serve a radical agenda that is actually self-destructive to Napolitano, the pastors, their children and their grandchildren.

We’ll say it again: the DHS report is part of an agenda that represents an all-out assault on Christianity by the executive branch of the United States government. It is abhorrent to Christianity; it is abhorrent to America and all Americans; it is abhorrent to the cause of freedom. It must be opposed and reversed.

The good news is that this can be reversed. The enemy is not really people or personalities; and it is not, per se, a DHS report. It is a mesmerized state of thought that is asleep to the attack on Christian faith and morals, and asleep to the implications of that attack on the well being of individuals and all of society. The remedy, for Napolitano as for all Americans, is to wake up, snap out of the trance, and claim your heritage as an American—your heritage of freedom as the child of a loving Creator who does not permit this heritage to be trampled upon. So wake up! Get engaged as a citizen, exercise your Constitutional rights to free speech and free assembly, and help turn this country around, NOW!
