Unconventional Wisdom

Here’s a brief inventory of conventional wisdom:

1. Republicans will gain around 50 seats in the House (and control); and about 8 seats in the Senate (not control).

2. Obama will move toward the center in an effort to show responsiveness to the wishes of the American electorate.

3. Republican leaders will be looking for areas of compromise with Obama, so as to show the country that Washington can escape gridlock.

4. Obama will have a new Republican majority to serve as a whipping boy, and will skillfully play this angle to higher approval ratings and eventual re-nomination and re-election to the Presidency in 2012.

There is of course a contrary view that accepts item 1, and then veers differently. But even it has been repeated so often as to be a niche form of erudite conventional wisdom:

1. Obama is a radical leftist, and will not moderate his agenda or move toward the middle between now and 2012. He will employ a brass-knuckle, ‘Chicago way’ style because it’s the only thing he knows, and he’ll dare anyone to stop him.

Here’s an altogether different form of wisdom—call it Brushfires’ wisdom:

Obama will be out of office within six months.

We hold no personal animosity toward Obama, and would much rather have seen him wake up to all the hateful nonsense he has absorbed from an early age about the nature of God, man, Christianity and America. He’d be a much stronger and better man if had awakened. But he hasn’t.

The November 2010 election is in no way, shape or form about conventional politics. It’s not about any subject in the curriculum of the Political Science Department of Harvard. The forces at work in driving the results are not explainable in terms of personalities or slick political ads.

It’s about God —or more specifically, about Americans’ faith in God, and about the place of God in 21st century life.

In 1776, Americans’ faith in God was widespread and strong; and the place of God in 18th century life was visible and central to virtually every aspect of life. These were the conditions which shaped the foundation of the country; they are the conditions that have shaped the success of the country.

There is no way to objectively compare the state of these conditions in 2010 with those in 1776 (or 1861 or 1941). We would only posit that the Pravda media of 2010 has no clue whatsoever about this subject. We believe faith in God in 2010 is much more widespread and strong than anyone in the Pravda media comprehends; we also think the number of Americans for whom a God-centered life is important and highly influential is far, far greater than anyone in the Pravda media comprehends. We think a true calculation of the hours Americans’ have devoted to prayer for this country in the last 20+ months would stagger the imagination.

So what does this have to do with unconventional wisdom about Obama’s future?

He has no business being in the office of the Presidency of the United States of America. He’s a complete fraud who won election by out-and-out, conscious deceit of the American people. Engaged Americans across the political spectrum now know it; and to a person they are deeply offended by it. And yes, that includes a very large portion—maybe even a majority—of those identifying themselves as Democrats.

There is no constituency for a fraud. There is no support structure for a lie. The perpetuation of a fraud after it has been discovered is simply unsustainable. Once exposed, frauds and lies collapse of their own emptiness.

There will be a few RINO’s and self-professed ‘statesmen’ who will hold out for the idea that keeping Obama propped up as President through 2012 is in the best interests of the stability of the country, but sooner or later (actually sooner or much sooner), it will dawn on them: the best interests of the stability of the country can only be served by the removal of Obama from office.

His godless leftist agenda is not good for anyone; it is harmful to everyone. His worldview does not promote international peace and security; it promotes instability and danger everywhere.

The world desperately needs America to be the shining city on a hill; Americans want and need God to be God and not government; and Obama and his agenda need to exit the Presidency. These needs fall into the domain of divine Providence, in whom the founders placed unwavering trust. The all-powerful British armed forces did not do too well against divine Providence in 1776; neither did the all-powerful Emperor Hirohito of Japan or the all-powerful Adolf Hitler of Germany in the 1940’s. They weren’t all-powerful, after all. Neither is Obama.

That’s not conventional or unconventional wisdom. Just wisdom.
