Global Warming Hysteria…Human Arrogance at a New Level

The arrogance of those who argue that “government is the only solution” is by itself breathtaking. When those same people go on to say—as Obama said in his Notre Dame commencement address—that humankind must “decide how to save God's creation from a changing climate that threatens to destroy it”—well, we’re entering a level of arrogance that is mind-boggling. Man is not the Creator; the Creator is the Creator. Man does not have the power of the Creator; the Creator has the power of the Creator.

The Bible warned of this kind of arrogant nonsense—as far back as the Old Testament. The Book of Job has a part of it:

Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said, Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge? Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me. Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding. Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it? Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof; when the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

And the Book of Isaiah has this:

“Surely your turning of things upside down shall be esteemed as the potter's clay: for shall the work say of him that made it, He made me not? or shall the thing framed say of him that framed it, He had no understanding?”

The earth's climate isn't going to burn up or freeze out because of anything man does, and if it does burn up or freeze out, there's not a damn thing man is going to do about it. We're all in favor of minimizing pollution on simple grounds of dirt vs. cleanliness, and we think free people will find another way if they're not satisfied with the level of cleanliness they are achieving. But all of this takes place within the promise of man's dominion over the earth, not subjection. If we need fossil fuel to power mankind's progress, then we should go get it and not be stopped by the ninnies of the Political Class.

Our Political Class doesn't have the courage to understand and then challenge these hysterical theories, and they quail at the thought that Katie Couric might ridicule them if they don’t genuflect before the high priests of global warming.

Well, it’s long past the time to hope that nuance and argument on the margins will address this hysteria. Man-made global warming is bunk. A lie. Stupid groupthink on steroids. Idiocy. An utterly false fear. It is being manipulated as a means of removing a huge chunk of freedom from mankind; strangling the idea of the worship of a present and powerful God, and placing the control of freedom in the hands of those who have no faith in anything other than man and matter. We’ll repeat: global warming fears are being manipulated as a means of removing a huge chunk of freedom from mankind; strangling the idea of the worship of a present and powerful God, and placing the control of freedom in the hands of those who have no faith in anything other than man and matter. God is completely left out of the question.

The only place this philosophy leads to is tyranny; there is nothing good that can possibly come out of it.

We’re allowing our nation’s well-being to be run off a cliff by the most faithless, pandering class of politicians we’ve ever had, led by a power-craven ideology that is absolutely toxic to American freedom. Stop this Congress! Yell at them! Scream at them! Protest. Dispute. Fight. And never quit. And in your own circle of friends and neighbors, don’t be afraid to speak up and say that man-made global warming is BS!!!!

As Usual, the People are Ahead of the Political Class...
        ...in Backing Off Man-Made Global Warming

The Beltway and its Pravda media live in a cocoon, and as a result are the last to catch on to what the people know. It's happening with the nationwide wakeup to--and rejection of--the hard left agenda of Obama that was concealed in the 2008 election campaign. We believe a solid majority of Americans are now strongly opposed to most every initiative of the Obama administration, but the charade of contrived, Pravda-designed approval polls may prop up the illusion of support awhile longer. But the Obama house of cards is going to collapse soon; Americans simply do not want and have never wanted the Obama agenda. They just got deceived and fooled in 2008, but they're awake now.

Looks like the people are also ahead of the Beltway in seeing through the man-made global warming hysteria. A recent Rasmussen poll shows only 34% of the people buy into the alarmism--which is the lowest percentage in the last six months, and reflects a steady decline. Probably has something to do with living in the real world, where an extremely cold winter, and a totally unpredicted-by-any-computer-model recent 10-year period of global cooling has allowed common sense to make a comeback.

There's unfortunately no sign that the people's view on this subject will matter to the Obama bureaucrats (any more than the people's objection to radically wasteful spending matters), as the EPA marches off to regulate the 'pollutant' of carbon dioxide.

This continues a pattern of arrogance and disdain for the people that is unsustainable. It is eroding popular support faster and more broadly and deeply than Axelrod, Emanuel and other Obama 'handlers' know--because they still believe the Pravda media can carry the day for them. But Pravda can't deliver anymore. Facts are stubborn things; truth has a way of outing them; and the web's capacity for spreading facts and truth has no historical parallel.

Americans are awake; they are not happy with their political class; and are in the process of taking back their country. They are not going to be denied.

The picture below is of something called the Sombrero galaxy; the picture was taken by the Hubble Telescope. This galaxy is said by NASA to be 50,000 light years across, and is 28 million light years from earth. It is said to reside on the edge of a cluster of galaxies, but is one of the largest, with a size estimated to approximate 800 billion suns.

Now, take another deep breath, and ask yourself, do you really believe humans have the capacity to control the climate of Earth?

Just asking.

For those still emerging from the global warming trance, here’s a link to another smack upside the head.

It’s been true from the beginning of computer programming: garbage in, garbage out. But we’ve been suckered into believing that because computers are so much more powerful, and programmers so much smarter, that computer models are infallible. (In Bible times, they called such things golden calves.) Computer models produce what computer modelers believe. Ten years ago, every infallible computer model predicted continued global warming; every single one of them was wrong, as the planet has cooled over this period. Computer models predicted rising sea levels because computer modelers expect and believe in rising sea levels. But they are garbage, just as were the models that predicted global warming over the past ten years.

When will we wake up?

We drew attention earlier to the recent Heartland Conference on global warming (see below ). Now Powerline has done a greater service, going deep enough into the presentations at the Heartland Conference to find and post key data in chart form. It's all there in just a few charts. Our favorite is the one prepared by Mr. Akasofu, which highlights just how hysterical the supposedly legitimate UN IPCC panel's predictions are.

Well, you say, that's the UN panel's entire point--we're really in an unprecedented crisis! But look at the other charts Powerline has posted. There is no crisis.

Man-made global warming is a fraud. Period.

Al Gore's unwillingness to debate respected climatologists who refute his man-made global warming theories has always struck us as a telltale sign that something 'ain't right' with his theories. Sure, he takes the path of righteous indignance--"the science is settled, and I need to move on with saving the world"--but if the world's well-being is really at stake, and the skeptics are highly credentialed members of the scientific community, why wouldn't you want to take them on just to save them from the folly of their ways--wouldn't you strengthen your case even more? If the debate is really about science, what have you to fear?

The American Thinker website, a Brushfires' favorite, has tracked down this video, which includes a useful, back-to-back presentation of Al Gore's thesis, followed by the comments and data of seven climatologists who disagree. Judge for yourself. And ask again, why does Al Gore refuse to debate scientists?

Part of the answer, of course, is that Gore isn't a scientist, which ought to raise immediate flags as to his credibility. But he can't escape the responsibility that comes from the fact that he has made himself the acknowledged leader of the global warming agenda. He's dead wrong, and he's leading the nation and the world into a massively destructive tilting-at-windmills exercise. He needs to step up with scientific data and argument to refute these skeptics. He hasn't, because he can't.

Man-made global warming theory is a fraud. A lie. Don't be fooled. Don't participate in to a worldwide mesmerism designed to get you to give up your freedom and your faith.

The evidence is frankly overwhelming that there is nothing but doubt surrounding the theories of man-made global warming. The International Conference on Climate Change held earlier in March is filled with data and analysis for anyone who wants to be informed. Spend some time with this link, especially by clicking through "Proceedings" to the individual speaker presentation of Christopher Monckton. The findings of the infamous UN panel, the IPCC, are particularly well-exposed in a scholarly, point-by-point expose for the ‘total rubbish’ they are. Man-made global warming is a godless socialist’s dream as the universal, extra-national bogeyman that can only be arrested if all power is given to the Lords of the Beltway (and other Lords around the world) to tell us what we can and can’t manufacture, what energy we can and can’t develop, and in generally what we can and can’t do with our freedom.

An inexplicable portion of Christianity—once a little more humble on the question of who governs creation—seems unaware of how pitifully it has caved entirely to the atheism of the global warming alarmists. Christianity should be a bulwark against hysteria of any kind, and certainly ought to be able to smell a fraud being trumpeted by a godless view of the world. A wake up is still possible, though, because truth still exists, and man need not be irreversibly fool-able. We’re optimistic the fraud will crumble—and we’re grateful for the scientists still willing to raise their hands in opposition to the PC herd—they are setting brushfires of freedom in a realm that desperately needs it.

There's a reason the Powerline guys are the gold-standard for internet commentary. Here's the full post; the fraud is there for anyone to see; we just need enough moral courage to call "BS" and end this hysteria once and for all.

If you're one of the many Americans who remain largely on the sidelines of the global warming debate, but keep wondering whether you need to get a little more informed and engaged, a Princeton University Professor of Physics testified in Congress recently, here. His remarks represent one of the more scholarly and responsible discussions we've seen that sort out the big picture issues and turn a bright light on the exaggerations and other alarmist hysteria that have gone unchecked for too long.

Every now and then we hear otherwise sane people express their earnest concerns about theories of man-made global warming. "Scientists are honest people; they don't manipulate the data..." is an example of what we sometimes hear.

Oh, please. Yes, there are scientists who are honest people who would not knowingly manipulate or fake data as part of their analysis. But what if the data itself is unreliable?

Check out George Will's recent column, and the story of the satellite sensors that were 'a little off' and missed in their measurement of Arctic sea ice by an area about the size of California. Think about this!! All sorts of stories of calamity (and assertions of 'proof' of man-made global warming) have sprung from the dire 'measurements' of shrinking Arctic sea ice, only to find the measurements missed an area the size of California. For our earnest friends--this is a perfect illustration of how their perspective is way off. It's not a matter of scientists manipulating data; it's a matter of bogus data, and other data extrapolated from bogus data, and computer models based on inputs of bogus data. It's as simple as 'garbage in, garbage out'.

Additionally, let's not blind ourselves to the influence of money on motives and results. The fraudulent stimulus bill throws millions at research designed to support the predetermined conclusion that 'cap and trade' is needed to stop global warming. If you're an up-and-coming research scientist, and there are no funds except government funds to pay for your research, are you going to go out of your way to prove or disprove what the government wants you to prove? To ask the question is to answer it. But don't take our word for it.

Consider mathematical physicist Frank Tipler, writing for Pajamas Media, here:

"Increasingly, government grants are used to defend dogma, not discover new truth: 28 percent of the scientists supported by NIH admitted recently to cooking data to support establishment theory, and 66 percent admitted to cutting corners to achieve the same end."

"The new Wreak-America Bill will throw billions of dollars more into global warming research, a field in which data cooking has become an open scandal. Once again, the data is being adjusted to confirm the establishment theory: humans are responsible for global warming. In actual fact, satellite observations show that the Earth is now cooling, and has been cooling for about 10 years. This confirms the anti-establishment theory that the Earth warmed prior to the late 1990s due to the then-increasing number of sunspots, and is now cooling due to the now decreasing number of sunspots. The Wreak-America bill contains funds to “adjust” those pesky satellite observations, so that the data will confirm what powerful politicians wish to be true.

Wake up!! Don't let this fraud continue to fool you or your friends. Man-made global warming theories are bunk.

Former astronaut, U.S. Senator, and professional geologist Harrison Schmitt, in resigning from The Planetary Society following its gratuitous endorsement of man-made global warming, is quoted in an AP story as saying:

"[the] global warming scare is being used as a political tool to increase government control over American lives, incomes and decision-making."

Spot on, as they say.

The more we read of the absolute lemming-level insanity that characterizes the global warming cult, the more we feel the need to shout "Wake Up!!!" to all mankind. This is an out of control, irrational fear, and lots of otherwise intelligent people are jumnping on board because they are grossly underinformed but want to appear in step with the media-approved way to think.
