Consider Two Concepts: Bribery and Extortion
As the rumors start to fly over Democrat members of Congress who are reported to be switching from the ‘no’ vote they cast on Obamacare last fall to a ‘yes’ vote on Obamacare this spring, we want to be among the first to state unequivocally our opinion that there are two and only two explanations for such an action at this time and under these circumstances: bribery or extortion.
There is no one with a pulse in the American political scene who does not know that the solid majority of the American people vehemently do not want Obamacare; that American public opinion toward Obamacare has been trending steadily and significantly negative over the past six months; that probably the most left-leaning state in the union, Massachusetts, just elected a Republican Senator almost entirely on his promise to block Obamacare in the Senate; that nothing has changed in the Obamacare legislation since last fall except provisions which make it even more detested by an even greater majority of the American people. Under these circumstances, in our opinion there is no principled, truthful basis whatsoever on which a member of Congress could change a previous ‘no’ vote to a ‘yes’ vote. No. Principled. Truthful. Basis. Whatsoever.
We think there are only two possible explanations for such a switch now. The first is a promise from the Democrat leadership (read: Obama/Reid/Pelosi) of a shield from the downside of voting against the will of the American people. Translation: a bribe. Most likely these involve real cash money to the member either in a phony post-election-defeat government job, or simply slush-fund payments under the table to some PAC or other device by which the member can personally enrich himself or herself. The second explanation is the promise from the Democrat leadership (read: Obama/Reid/Pelosi) of greater downside to the member than that represented by voting against the will of the American people. Translation: extortion. Eric Massa would appear to us to be the poster boy for the White House/Pelosi’s willingness to use this option.
Yes, we know that members can spin stories about 'voting their conscience' or about 'thoughtful reconsideration of the issues'--which is to say that we know liars can lie. But we also know that truth has a way of emerging...Shakespeare phrased it as the 'truth will out'.
'Truth will out’ the details of this vile, unprecedented-in-scope-and-brazenness corruption...this stunningly obvious, deliberate and calculated abuse of power. The leftists, their sycophantic media, and all the PC voices in the nation can scream to themselves for the protection of our dear first black president, but it’s not going to matter. We believe that when the details come out, it will be patently and painfully clear that what the Democrat leadership is and has been doing at the direction and under the control of the White House meets the common sense, everyman definition of 'criminal'. We believe the result will be impeachable ‘high crimes and misdemeanors’ for which Obama can and should be removed from office. And we believe a majority of the American people already intuit all of this.
The Republican platform for 2010 may be as simple as “Repeal Obamacare” and “Remove Obama”. We believe the Republicans will win.
