Van Barfoot, America and Removing Obama
Awhile ago there was an email circulating around the internet which captured the story of Van Barfoot, a 90 year old Virginia resident who received the Congressional Medal of Honor in 1944 for his heroics as an infantryman in World War II. His bravery in World War II, as recounted in the Medal of Honor citation (reproduced below), is itself an inspiration to all Americans, and a reminder of the towering greatness of character that can be found in America’s military. But it is a more recent experience of his that offers a modern lesson about the power of moral authority—a lesson which actually outlines the way to the peaceful but immediate removal of Barack Obama from the US presidency.
Let’s first review Barfoot’s Medal of Honor citation:
For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of life above and beyond the call of duty on 23 May 1944, near Carano, Italy.
With his platoon heavily engaged during an assault against forces well entrenched on commanding ground, 2d Lt. Barfoot moved off alone upon the enemy left flank. He crawled to the proximity of 1 machinegun nest and made a direct hit on it with a hand grenade, killing 2 and wounding 3 Germans. He continued along the German defense line to another machinegun emplacement, and with his tommygun killed 2 and captured 3 soldiers. Members of another enemy machinegun crew then abandoned their position and gave themselves up to Sgt. Barfoot.
Leaving the prisoners for his support squad to pick up, he proceeded to mop up positions in the immediate area, capturing more prisoners and bringing his total count to 17. Later that day, after he had reorganized his men and consolidated the newly captured ground, the enemy launched a fierce armored counterattack directly at his platoon positions. Securing a bazooka, Sgt. Barfoot took up an exposed position directly in front of 3 advancing Mark VI tanks. From a distance of 75 yards his first shot destroyed the track of the leading tank, effectively disabling it, while the other 2 changed direction toward the flank.
As the crew of the disabled tank dismounted, Sgt. Barfoot killed 3 of them with his tommygun. He continued onward into enemy terrain and destroyed a recently abandoned German fieldpiece with a demolition charge placed in the breech. While returning to his platoon position, Sgt. Barfoot, though greatly fatigued by his Herculean efforts, assisted 2 of his seriously wounded men 1,700 yards to a position of safety.
Sgt. Barfoot’s extraordinary heroism, demonstration of magnificent valor, and aggressive determination in the face of point blank fire are a perpetual inspiration to his fellow soldiers.
Fast forward to Barfoot’s life of retirement in Virginia, where he erected a 21 foot flagpole in front of his house, on which to fly the American flag. Turns out he needed a permit for such a flagpole. The local homeowners’ association rules said flagpoles could only be house-mounted, and therefore had to be of a smaller size than Barfoot’s. Permit denied.
Let’s provide a Pravda/mainstream media description of this situation: Homebuilders and homeowners desire reasonable rules and regulations for the good of the community’s appearance; excessive flag-waving patriotism is offensive to modern sensibilities; the denial of the permit is ‘lawful’ and therefore the rule of law requires that Mr. Barfoot yield to the decision or face prosecution by government authorities. Government authorities include a well-educated lawyer, duly trained in the development of law and regulation; very able to articulate the reasonable basis of flagpole rules; the importance of respect for law and authority in the community; and probably even able to voice a message of ‘while we certainly respect Mr. Barfoot’s service, the rules are the rules, and he must comply’. You might even get a well-lawyered spin statement that Mr. Barfoot fought in WWII for the rights of the American people to be able to set flagpole rules.
But Mr. Barfoot’s life bespeaks a moral authority that completely trumps the Pravda narrative. He enlisted to fight for and defend American freedom; he knows the evil that opposes it and will always oppose it; he has been and always will be defiant of that evil and willing to destroy it through every means available to him.
In the flagpole case, Barfoot said, “In the time I have left I plan to continue to fly the American flag without interference”. And he has. And he will. And no one in the entire apparatus of government authorities, neighborhood agitators, and those whose modern sensibilities are offended by the large flagpole and its American flag are going to do a damn thing about it. Because Van Barfoot has a level of moral authority that can’t be touched by any form of sophistry or intellect masquerading as ‘authority’. They completely crumble in the presence of real authority.
Which brings us to Obama. A solid majority of Americans know Obama is a fraud; that he lied to and deliberately misled the American people about who he was and what he believes; they despise the radical leftist agenda that is being pursued by Obama, Reid and Pelosi in brazen defiance of the will of the people; they are sick and tired of Obama’s teleprompter shtick trying to convey competence and American authenticity where none exists. And yes, increasing numbers of Americans see this radical leftist assault for the evil that it is—no more and no less than the evil of Nazism and communism; no different in its design to destroy the America of the founding; and no less in need of Van Barfoots to defeat it.
In the Obama ‘situation’, the American people face another extensive apparatus of government authorities, rules and regulations, lawyers out the wazzoo, and a huge segment of the institutional media that are joined in this latest war on freedom and the America of the founding. The American people want Obama gone, and they want him gone now. But as with Barfoot, they seem to be facing ‘permit denied’ until 2012. That’s why they need to rally to the cause of publicly demanding Obama’s resignation, NOW. To hell with all the reasons why their demand can’t succeed against the ‘apparatus’; the moral authority of the American people explicitly demanding Obama’s resignation as part and parcel of defending their God-given heritage as Americans has the same power that Van Barfoot had against the flagpole rule enforcers. He won; they lost. Right won; wrong lost. Good won; evil lost.
So Americans—get with it. We’re sick of this charade; sick of the PR tactics to prop up a fraud; sick and enraged at an American government that dares to defy the will of the American people. We’re not sitting back and accepting the willful destruction of this nation and its founding ideals. Demand that Obama resign! DEMAND IT. DEMAND IT NOW. And he will.
