Climate Change Law Belongs in Ash Heap of History
Man does not control the climate of earth. Period. End of discussion.
Or at least it should be the end of the discussion. But in the most brazen, in-your-face defiance of the people and the truth, a Democrat-led Congress is pushing climate change legislation through for a vote in the House of Representatives as early as Friday, June 26.
History may one day record this episode in America as (in the words of
Powerline)
“a suicidal monument to human folly”. Let’s look at just how outrageous this really is.
Brazen: Take a look at
this link,
for the history of how this 1,200 page bill has moved through the House. Once again, not one of America’s elected Representatives has read this bill. Not one. In case that doesn’t get through to you clearly enough, we’ll repeat it: not one of America’s elected Representatives has read this bill. It is one of the biggest tax increases, and one of the most grotesque intrusions of government into the free market economy, in the history of the United States of America. Like the stimulus bill, it is being railroaded through the Congress without any transparency or accountability whatsoever.
Defiance of the people: What honest evidence is there anywhere that suggests that the American people understand what is in this bill and support it? The obvious answer is there is no such evidence because there can’t be any such evidence. If the elected Representatives do not know what is in this bill, how could the American people? Remember this when a
Pravda Poll
comes out next and tries to backfill for Obama and the Democrat-controlled Congress with a finding that XX% of Americans support this climate change legislation. It will be false on its face. At the very most, a legitimate poll might include the softest of findings that some portion of the populace is ‘very concerned’ about global warming, but that won’t be a finding of what the people think of causation, of realistic remedies, or of cost-benefit tradeoffs. Which gets to the final aspect.
Defiance of the truth: there are over
30,000 scientists
who dispute the theories of man-made global warming; the data of the past 10 years shows global cooling despite computer models that predicted warming; there is demonstrably,
vastly more correlation
between solar activity and earth’s temperature than there is between CO2 and earth’s temperature; there simply is no factual basis to believe control of CO2 will change anything about earth’s climate in any significant way. Leftist demagoguery and Pravda have suppressed, distorted and perverted these facts to a degree that may someday be seen as willful, deliberate, manipulative and yes, criminal. Yet there are apparently enough Democrats in Congress willing to go through with this.
America has enough oil and oil-related resources to meet its needs for decades, if the government would get out of the way. America has the know-how to construct and safely operate nuclear power on a scale that would eliminate the need for a vast chunk of fossil fuels. American car companies could restore themselves if allowed to build cars that people want and if the government would abolish CAFÉ standards and ‘free them’ to do so. All of these industries could be employing thousands of Americans if the government would ‘free them’ to do so.
It is an outrage that the American people have allowed their government to even be in a position to ‘free them’ to do what needs to be done. This evisceration of the US Constitution has occurred over decades and decades, and hundreds of incremental pieces of legislation, and the people were lulled to sleep as it happened. But this climate change legislation is starkly visible to an increasingly awake American people.
Just a few days ago,
we wrote:
Americans do not want socialism in this country. They do not want nationalized healthcare. They do not want a fiscally out-of-control government. They are not on board with sky-is-falling global warming hysterics and their radical command-control remedies. They are sick of seeing their media turned into fawning lapdogs. At some point these factors are going to be plainly at work in the passage of some law or in a decision by the White House that is absolutely in-your-face opposed to the will of the people, and all hell’s going to break loose. Truth will be at work, and Obama will not be able to stop it.
We wrote those words without knowing Pelosi’s plan to bring the climate change legislation to a vote this Friday. It’s exactly what we predicted. So we’ll take the prediction a little farther: if this climate change legislation passes the House this week, largely in its present form and under the present conditions of never having been read by those voting, we believe it will go beyond a farce and will be more than a disgrace. It will be an act of government that is itself an incitement to revolution.
