American Revolution 2.0

The Political Class of America remains astoundingly out of touch with the American people. There are examples almost every day, but the misinterpretation and general bewilderment at the tea party phenomenon continues to stand out. We include the Pravda media in the Political Class—and their persistent cluelessness and/or outright denial of the phenomenon, along with the sickeningly sycophantic behavior toward Obama, is having the same effect as placing a firm lid on an already boiling, already full pot of water. This is going to blow sky high. The Political Class is setting the stage for a second American Revolution, and they don’t see it coming. We say, the sooner the better.

We’ll put aside the wildly out-of-touch left-wing denunciations of the tea parties—they are so off-base they’re not worth examining. What is more interesting is the commentary that suggests the tea parties are primarily about tax policy (based on the memory of 3rd grade American history class suggesting that the original Boston tea party was primarily about tax policy). This leads to a back-of-the-hand dismissal of today’s tea parties, because after all, in 1773, it was ‘taxation without representation’, and now there’s representation, so it’s a baseless protest. Even some who call themselves Republicans seem drawn in by this surface-level parallel—and find themselves even more confused since, after all, there really haven’t been any tax increases yet. They soon get ensnared by the leftwing argument that it’s all just a selfish, unpatriotic protest against future tax rates. So why is everybody so worked up?

We can’t say for sure what the mood of the people was in Boston in 1773, but we know what it is now. And it isn’t being driven by taxes; it isn’t even about spending, per se. It’s about an arrogant, out-of-control Political Class, deciding things and imposing things on the American people that were never discussed, debated or endorsed by them in any election, and certainly not in the 2008 Presidential election. It’s about a Political Class that has lost all contact with the American ideal of individual freedom and personal responsibility, and is in fact acting hostile to it. It’s about the Pravda media, that is universally seen (except by those who work in it) to have abandoned all connection to objectivity and the pursuit of truth in favor of a left-wing agenda, Obama cheerleading and out-and-out lies if necessary to keep the whole illusion together. The Political Class and the Pravda Media show no signs of changing their shtick—which is an absolute guarantee that the tea party phenomenon is only going to increase, and probably exponentially.

You must always remember what the liberals do not: just because movements of thought are not covered by the Pravda media does not mean they’re not out there. Another recent case in point is the unannounced Air Force One fly-by of Manhattan. We’re told the Secretary of Defense, the Director of the FBI, and the Mayor of New York did not know of this stunt before it happened; we also know the reaction of New Yorkers on the street was one of sheer panic. We’re of course told that Obama did not know about it (which is highly dubious, since it appears that the whole stunt was done in support of “The Tuskegee Airmen”—a movie being made by a Hollywood lefty about black American pilots in the military) but is ordering (!) a two-week investigation to find out who was responsible.

All of this is pure Axelrod stagecraft that counts on the power of Pravda, the impotence of truth, and the dullness and stupidity of everyone besides themselves. Two weeks of ‘investigation’ is calculated to be enough to get the story out of obligatory coverage from Pravda (even though the White House knows already who made the decision). A sacrificial lamb will be designated, and if the person is too important to fire outright, Axelrod will program the teleprompter to display that rare executive quality of ‘compassion’ in forgiving a mistake. If the designated lamb can be fired, he or she will be fired, and the teleprompter will be programmed to display ‘decisiveness’ in disciplining the incompetent. And Axelrod and the teleprompter will then consider it safe to move on, because Pravda will drop the subject.

But beneath the shallowness of Axelrod and Pravda, there remain serious people in the country, and some of them are even in the government. Serious people, including the Secretary of Defense and the Director of the FBI, are not fooled by Axelrod’s stagecraft. They are offended and disgusted by an amateurish but snotty White House operation that has no appreciation for the real trauma of 9/11, and the still serious nature of the Islamo-fascist threat. They are getting increasingly restless and nervous about just who this guy is, and they aren’t buying the relevance of likability polls. They may continue for awhile to put on public smiles and portray unconcerned attitudes to Pravda, but that’s not what they are feeling. They are privately fuming; they are increasingly picking up on the fraud that is Obama, and the radical left-wing Pelosi agenda that he is pursuing. They are aligning with the tea partiers.

Pravda’s ‘lid on the pot of boiling water’ isn’t going to hold. The American people did not vote for and do not want the hard-left agenda that is being implemented, and the American people are furious in watching the one-party controlled Congress use methods that the old Soviet Politburo would have admired.

In future essays, we’ll continue to use “American Revolution 2.0” as a unifying theme—we think what’s happening in America today really is revolutionary, but in ways that are radically different than are being described in the melodramatic Pravda tributes to Obama’s first hundred days. We don’t know all the ways it will take shape, but that it will take shape, we have no doubt. Because here’s an inescapable fact: American ideals of freedom are God-given, and they will not be man-denied.
