The Mainstream Media has become America's Enemy
The left-wing bias of the mainstream media is not news to anyone with a pulse. What is new is the growing recognition that the mainstream media is long past the point of bias; it is openly hostile to the America of the founding and is working on the side of those who would destroy America. It is has become America’s enemy.
It’s really very simple: when the media assumes the liberty to lie, all hell can break loose in the moral fabric of society. The media is making an open mockery of integrity and morals; readers, and really, the entire culture marinated by such media, are appalled, cynical, angry and looking to vent; and the beneficiaries of the media’s lies can be emboldened to act even more lawlessly—after all, they believe the media will help them in their own lies. The result can be the destruction of the very concept of 'ordered liberty'--the destruction of America.
We’re seeing this acted out in Alaska in this election cycle. The media is consciously and deliberately lying about Joe Miller, the Republican nominee who won a close primary election over incumbent Senator Lisa Murkowski. Take a minute to absorb the story in

this is CBS network television news conspiring to make up stories that would discredit or otherwise harm Joe Miller. And the Murkowski campaign is counting on it and feeding off it. We expect Alaskans to send a message to Murkowski and the media on Tuesday. (And as an aside, Sarah Palin has weighed in on the CBS matter, calling the media
‘corrupt bastards’
for engaging in this kind of behavior. This is precisely why Sarah Palin can and should be
the next President;
she is the only public figure willing to take the gloves off and call out this crap for what it is. But we digress--)
The saving grace for America is that the internet came along before the mainstream media lost its soul. Americans do have places to turn to find reliable information; they also know how to find alternative opinion. And every American with a phone camera and email is a de facto reporter who can go above, below and otherwise around the mainstream media. The result has been exposure of Alaska-type media criminality—and hopefully in time to allow the people to make their votes on November 2nd as much about ridding America of these corrupt media enterprises as much as corrupt politicians.
What else can be done? Very high on the post November 2nd agenda of tea party Americans should be to accelerate efforts to put the mainstream media out of business. Stop subscribing; stop watching; stop advertising with them—and tell your friends to do the same. Talk it up; write it up on the blogs; send the message to your email lists; just do it. A lot of this has already happened without purposeful or organized effort; individual disgust has been eroding readership and viewership for years. But an organized effort can do them in, and effectively force new voices and new media enterprises to emerge to take their place. Fox News has already become a powerhouse new voice; there is room for several others.
The New York Times survives today only because there are still enough billionaires like Carlos Slim who believe there is an eternal brand value to the name of the paper, and are willing to prop it up long enough to wait out what they think is a temporary blip in readership.
It’s time to make it a permanent and accelerating decline. Slim might get tired of losing money and force major changes in editorial philosophy, or maybe he won’t believe or understand the reasons for the decline and will pump more money into the status quo. We don’t really care.
It’s time for Americans to recognize these enemies as enemies and take action to defeat them. It can be done. The American people can win this war, just like any other.
